M.2 Gen 5 Connector Updates
PCI-SIG updated standards on both M.2 Gen 4 and Gen 5 in Nov. 2022
(1) M.2 Gen 4 (16 GT/s) added 3
new SSD modules- D6, D7 and D8, and defined module components’ top and bottom maximum
heights. M.2 modules may have different component heights on top side and
bottom side, so here is the reminder for users,
- While applying to standard
or reverse mounting orientation, M.2 modules should match with different heights
of connectors. For this reason, we provide multiple connectors heights:
mid-mount 1.2 & 1.35mm; top-mount 2.0 ~ 10.0mm (total 15 height options)
(2) M.2 Gen 4 (16 GT/s)
connector improved to support 1A current. Both housing and contact pins are modified
to allow insertion of new M.2-1A cards and existing M.2 cards
(3) M.2 Gen 5 (32 GT/s)
standard released 0.9 version, and the signal integrity requirements are to be
determined
- We have completed M.2
Gen 5 (32 GT/s), and samples are available
